Sinopsis(1)

Kate (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and Charlie (Aaron Paul, TV's Breaking Bad ) are a young married couple whose bond is built on a mutual love of music, laughter and drinking...especially the drinking. When Kate's drinking leads her to dangerous places and her job as a school teacher is put into jeopardy, she decides to join AA and get sober. With the help of her new friend and sponsor Jenny (Octavia Spencer, The Help), and the vice principal at her school, the awkward, but well intentioned, Mr. Davies, Kate takes steps toward improving her health and life. Sobriety isn't as easy as Kate had anticipated. Her new lifestyle brings to the surface a troubling relationship with her mother, facing the lies she's told her employer (Megan Mullaly TV's Parks and Recreation) and calls into question whether or not her relationship with Charlie is built on love or just a boozy diversion from adulthood. inglés This movie was supposed to show me a proper American alcoholic. However, I was expecting a little more vomiting, a bit worse living conditions, and overall, I was hoping that an American alcoholic was something like the people I meet at a bus stop, when I leave the Brandejs pub at night. But I didn’t expect how refined an American alcoholic is. In that instance this drama became a fairly ordinary affair with an absolutely ordinary plot and an even more obvious conclusion. If I went to the worst local pub in my neighborhood, stood at the bar and ordered a beer, I would talk to far more interesting local characters than what this film offered me. Well, I get it, the USA is not the Czech Republic. So many countries, so many customs. ()

inglés Things that were fun are not fun anymore. Isn't that a perfect sentence summarizing addiction and its impact on a person? Mary Elizabeth Winstead shows that she is a great actress, and you will believe her as an alcoholic who wants to get treatment. It's not a nice story. It's not as ugly as it could be, but it still makes a strong impression on you. Drugs are disgusting, but alcohol is too. It's not groundbreaking, but it's good to be reminded of it from time to time. ()
