Ephraim es un niño etíope que se ve forzado a vivir con su abuela y sus tíos cuando su padre se marcha a la gran ciudad a trabajar. Con su único amigo, un pequeño cordero, Ephraim intenta ayudar a su familia trabajando en el campo y aprendiendo a cocinar. Cuando su tío amenaza con sacrificar a su inseparable compañero para dar de comer a la familia, Ephraim hará todo lo posible para escapar, ir en busca de su padre y salvar la vida de su amigo. Lamb works brilliantly as a glimpse into another country, another environment, and different problems. Who would have thought that one day he would be dealing with not wanting them to kill his sheep, the only thing he has, but something that could feed the poor village that is starving? No, we really don't have to deal with problems like that, and therefore we don't value anything.
