Ambientada en el año 1799 en Alemania, país que fue de gran influencia durante esta época en distintas ramas como las artísticas, sociales o culturales. Este año, el matemático Carl Friedrich Gauss y el geógrafo y naturalista Alexander von Humboldt, dos jóvenes científicos muy apasionados por su trabajo y todo aquello que gira en torno a los enigmas de la ciencia, se plantean descifrar y medir el mundo. Esta aventura basada en la novela de Daniel Kehlmann, nos muestra dos perspectivas diferentes, desde cada punto de vista de los personajes, a través de las cuales conocerán la esclavitud, podrán vaticinar el cambio climático y enfrentarse a la moralidad de aquella época gracias a sus ganas de comprender y cambiar el mundo.
