Entre los años 63 y 68 de nuestra era, el oficial romano Marco Vinicio regresa de la guerra en Asia Menor y se dirige a la casa de su tío Petronio, amigo del emperador Nerón. Vinicio le confiesa que se ha enamorado de una joven misteriosa, Ligia, a quien ha conocido en la casa del militar Aulus Plaucius. En una fiesta Vinicio trata de aprovecharse de Ligia a quien ayuda su amigo Ursus que la saca de la casa y la lleva al lugar de encuentro de los seguidores de Jesucristo. Ligia acusada de haber asesinado a la hija de Nerón y Vinicio, decidido a encontrarla llega hasta el lugar secreto donde se reúnen los cristianos. Para que su amor sea posible han de abrazar la misma fe, según advierte Pedro, pera la vida de todos ellos peligra cuando los cristianos son acusados de haber provocado el incendio de Roma, ordenado en realidad por el emperador. Sienkiewicz's latest adaptation is somewhere on the edge between classical pomposity and ordinary television drama. It closed the first century with Quo Vadis (the first version appeared in 1902). Now, on the shoulders of the very decent performances of the popular actors Bogusław Linda, Franciszek Pieczka, and the beautiful Agnieszka Wagner, it is possible to recall once again the story of Nero, who is one of the most popular representatives of the Hellenic world. Famous moments such as the recognition of the fish and the sacrifice of the Christians in the arena should always be remembered for their timelessness. But unfortunately, it is the performances of Paweł Deląg and others like him that disappoint, giving the film a lower rating.
