El Gruñón es uncascarrabias que piensa que todo tiempo pasado fue mejor. Todo lo que ha sido hecho después de 1953 lo enfurece. La historia comienza cuando por una caída en las escaleras tiene que ir a vivir con la familia de su hijo en Helsinski, una ciudad moderna, lejor de su entorno. Su nuera es una mujer de carrera que no tiene tiempo para perder con el Gruñón y su hijo un inútil afectivo que jamás pudo contar con su padre. Las cosas se complican cuando el Gruñón decide ayudar a su nuera a cerrar un trato con unos empresarios rusos y mejorar la relación con su hijo. Y seguro que a alguien le arruinará el día. The Finnish have a gift among their Scandinavian brothers. To write uncompromising, cynic comedies that contain absolutely brilliant humor, and on top of that, a bit of truth. The Grump is one of those and I have to say that the music of Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson only added to its uniqueness and thus created a really great movie, from which I would maybe cut a few scenes so that it wouldn’t be so long. But otherwise it‘s a great movie.

A deeply human story about a man who refuses to accept that the world works differently than it did when he was young. The film is full of slightly humorous situations that made me laugh out loud, yet I wouldn't consider it a comedy at all. It's a kind of Nordic caress of the soul, underlined by truly beautiful music, although the old man was sometimes frustrating in the way he could drive everyone around him crazy.
