Season 1 (2015) (S01)

inglés After the end of the first season, I was quite surprised that my overall rating got as high as four stars. I didn’t find some of the episodes interesting at all. But I have only myself to blame. If I don't like reality TV shows, I shouldn't watch a series about the making of such a show. I once saw two episodes of the Bachelor, which apparently served as the inspiration for this fictional show, and I must admit it was exactly as pathetic as it's shown here. Anyway, UnREAL wasn't bad enough for me to cry over the wasted time, and Quinn was great the whole time. 4*- ()

Return (2015) (S01E01)

inglés The pilot episode of the first season was a pleasant surprise. Even though I was just getting to know the story and characters, there was always something happening, so I definitely wasn't bored. The reality show producers clearly sacrificed their principles for the sake of viewership and profit, so I ended up getting a pretty solid handbook for both beginner and advanced manipulators. ()

Relapse (2015) (S01E02)

inglés The second part didn't quite match the intensity of the first episode, and once it wrapped up, I couldn't shake the feeling that we didn't really move the needle on the story. While I'm all in for the manipulative antics, I'm a tad worried that the series might lean too heavily on them without much else to offer in terms of plot development. ()

Mother (2015) (S01E03)

inglés The series' manipulation tactics don't hit as hard as they did initially, so the story loses a bit of its impact for me. I added a small plus for the side storylines, which were a bit more interesting this time. 3*+ ()

Wife (2015) (S01E04)

inglés Like last time, what I enjoyed most about the episode were the plotlines not directly related to the filming. But this time, they were even better, so I bumped up the rating a bit. The deteriorating relationship between Quinn and Chet, and especially Adam's efforts to sell the vineyard, were quite compelling. ()

Truth (2015) (S01E05)

inglés The episode stuck to its usual standard of being both interesting and entertaining, earning it four stars. But I threw in a fifth because the series hammered home the idea that while Muslims might seem stuck in the Middle Ages with their views and laws, Christians haven't moved much beyond the Victorian era. Living in a theocracy must be dreadful. ()

Fly (2015) (S01E06)

inglés I genuinely enjoyed the episode. Plenty of misdeeds and twists kept boredom at bay, and I loved how dramatic the ending was. ()

Savior (2015) (S01E07)

inglés This episode felt like a typical day-after episode. I got what I expected, but I had to rethink my pre-planned four stars. The US is a land of limitless possibilities, sure, but nobody properly investigating a TV show participant's death? That seemed too UnREAL to me. And the conveniently "found" farewell letter? Come on, wouldn't the police be all over that? 3*- ()

Two (2015) (S01E08)

inglés The eighth episode didn't exactly fill me with enthusiasm. The plot focused more on the creators of the show rather than the show itself, but it slipped into a typical "he loves me, he loves me not" trope, concerning five or more characters this time. Despite a few bright moments, I wasn't very satisfied. ()

Princess (2015) (S01E09)

inglés My thoughts on the previous episode apply here as well, as the plot developed similarly. However, this one turned out slightly better for me because I thoroughly enjoyed Quinn, who is becoming my favorite character. 3*+ ()

Future (2015) (S01E10)

inglés Unlike some previous episodes, the finale pleased and amused me overall. The story, which seemed stuck in a soap opera-like relationship loop, finally moved forward, offering plenty of intrigue and manipulation. ()
