Paran daemun

Ki-duk Kim... what kind of man is he and what is the point of his movies? I guess I'll never be able to answer that question and will always be wrestling with it. Sometimes I feel like his movies are brilliant, but there's always something that I loathe. And Birdcage Inn was no different. There's basically nothing but evil going on in the film, and the idea itself is horribly sick. And what to put next to the blackness to make it look even blacker? Oh, yeah, white. Although even the black gets absorbed over time. And I’m just wondering if Ki-duk Kim is trying to point out the crap that's going on in the world, or if he likes the idea of a world like that...
