(Alimpro Films)

This movie has an idea, it is original, minimalistic, even mesmerizing in a mystical way but without a soul, emotions or at least one moment where I would say that this movie deserves such attention. But given its premise it is surprisingly boring and no fun at all. ()
What attracted me the most was the dense and oppressive atmosphere of the harsh north underlined by the excellent music. The dark romantic story shrouded in mystery also appealed to me a lot and the ethereal wild woman Marie was likable from the start, so despite some reservations about the horror ending, I rate the film quite highly. It should go deeper into the minds of the characters (we don’t get to know much about them, actually), or push the envelope more with regards to blood and terror. As it is, the film is too vanilla and not disturbing enough; bland, I’d say. It’s too shallow for a depressive Scandinavian drama and too detached for a horror movie. I get the intention of bringing in the Låt den rätte komma werewolves, but it wasn’t successful. ()
