Ma Na Sapna

The largest fertility clinic in India is inhabited by pregnant women who have chosen to carry someone else's child. The payment for such services is not great but for women from poor backgrounds, it is a vital source of income – enough to ensure a home for their family, food or education. But they are often stigmatised by their neighbours for their decision to become a surrogate mother. The film follows the lives of six women in the clinic, giving voice to their wishes and hopes while posing questions about the ethical dimension of trafficking in human happiness. (One World)
