Sinopsis(1)

It is 1931. A strike has been proclaimed in the Ådalen valley in the north of Sweden. The boss of the factory decides to call in strike-breakers. The workers grow rebellious, and some three thousand of them join together to banish the strike-breakers and then to march to Lunde in a sympathy movement. On the way into Lunde, the military confront the strikers. They warn them that they cannot go any further. But the marchers press on, and are fired upon indiscriminately by the soldiers. Five men are killed and many others wounded. One of the dead is Harald, whose son Kjell has become involved with Anna, the daughter of the director of the factory. While the march is under way, Anna is in Stockholm having an abortion on her mother´s orders. Kjell resolves to help his mother to face the years ahead, and also to try to change the social structure in Sweden. (texto oficial de la distribuidora)
