ALTAR follows one family as they move into a timeworn, dilapidated country mansion in order to restore it to its former splendor. "Altar" is primarily an attempt at atmospheric horror. However, it didn't fully succeed. Towards the end, it starts to get a bit tangled, and the individual revelations are not really worth watching the film for. "Altar" does impress mainly with the environment, which is truly terrifying. I think many viewers would seriously reconsider whether they would want to live in a similar place or not. But real estate advertising shouldn't be the goal of a horror film.
