A vén gazember

Rumour has it that the estate steward of Baron Inokay, who is squandering his fortune and spending his money lavishly, Borly Gáspár, nick-named „the old villain", has been stealing money from the baron's family and is now the owner of rather a big fortune coming from this stolen money. Baroness Inokay Mária returns from Vienna, the city she has been educated in. The baroness has been chosen as count Ba¬lassa's future wife. Mária, on the other hand, loves her childhood friend, Borly Gáspár's grandson. There is enough evidence to prove that Old Borly has really stolen the money he now has, but his will is a proof of his intention to save whatever he can, having bequeathed all the embezzled money to Mária.
