First I would like to say that I’m happy to see any filmmaking endeavors from the Baltic states, so I didn’t mind the topic of this film – that is fencing, which I know nothing about. Far from minding it, I was happy to be surprised. The Estonians did a good job with this film, telling a touching story from the 1950s in a very decent way, even though the result is kind of gloomy. Moreover, I learned something about Estonia in that era. ()
