Familie Braun

The short-form anti-racist sitcom which won a number of awards including an international Emmy tells the story of two neo-Nazis whose bubble of loud-mouthed mischief is disrupted by the arrival of a little girl. She has dark skin and is the daughter of one of the men. The girl becomes a veritable nightmare for the two xenophobes as she gradually forces them to reflect on their behaviour, opinions and even personal traumas from which they hid away in the world of radical ideology. With excellent punch lines and humour that contrasts the stubborn rhetoric of radicals with the innocent perspective of a child, the show does not settle for shallow ridicule. On the contrary; true to the need to start a dialogue and find understanding, the show depicts its heroes as human beings that make mistakes but are also capable of mending their ways. (Serial Killer)
