Larry has the mumps and Vasilia is to blame. Louisa announces that it's a good excuse to keep Aunt Hermione away from the house as she's coming to visit from England. Aunt Hermione and her travelling companion Mrs Haddock arrive a day early and take refuge from a storm at Theo's house.
