Ed Wood may have been a bad director, but in this case, he made an average Western that references classic elements with John Wayne. There isn't a proper progression of action and story, in fact, there's a bit of a lack of action, but overall, it's just average, something you could expect in the genre during that time. Honestly, it's not anything extremely bad.
