Tras la muerte de sus padres las jóvenes y huérfanas mellizas Maria y Frieda son adoptadas por su tío Gustav Weil, líder de un grupo que pretende acabar con el fenómeno de los vampiros. A likeable and pleasantly atmospheric Hammer horror flick. It's not missing anything that a proper horror film should have and it’s all mixed in the right proportion. A little bit of sex, a little bit of blood and pointed vampire fangs, pretty babes, subtle hints of gore and the charismatic Peter Cushing, who just by his presence lifts every film a few percent higher. Almost all Hammer horror films were basically one and the same, but most of them had that endearingly dark and serious mood that can still be charming today. Three and a half stars.
