Fernando está de vacaciones con sus mejores amigos en una bonita casa de campo en un barrio chic de Buenos Aires. Él decide invitar a Germán, un amigo cercano de sus clases de Taekwondo. I saw three films by Marco Berger six years ago in quick succession, so Taekwondo was a reunion after a relatively long time. In terms of times and space this is a modest and intimate film focusing on multiple characters at once, with most of them being rather fleeting and superficial glimpses into the inner workings of their nature. Taekwondo is a little too talky in places, and a little too quiet in others, but it manages to build the growing sexual tension between Fernando and Germán quite artfully throughout. For the most part, it's a mundane look into the lives of a bunch of guys who like to lounge, drink and party, but that omnipresent yet really subtle romantic line adds to the otherness. In the end, weaker, but still three stars!
