It's not so much funny as it is oddly hokey. This is a film you want to watch because of the interesting young actresses who enjoy their roles and are quite goofy, as well as being able to be serious where needed. That means you’ll be watching the type of film that you don't see every day. However, it’s not downright ridiculously great.

Certainly not blisteringly funny, but definitely a good comedy that thankfully doesn't just benefit from the characters behaving very contemporaneously in the Middle Ages, it cares about those characters too. The final crazy confrontation is irresistible, and the ending, like the tone of the whole film, is – unexpectedly – beautiful.
