Season 1 (2017) (S01)

inglés After watching the first season, I must admit that I had an unexpectedly good time. Alison Brie played the somewhat desperate Ruth brilliantly. With Jenji Kohan, I automatically expect a comedy mixed with drama, and this show was no exception. All the negatives were outweighed by the excellent atmosphere. The filmmakers managed to take me back to the days when I was learning Russian in primary school, when everything was accompanied by the sound of electric drums, and when, as Ruth (or Zoya) said, you could have a great chat while standing in line for just about anything. ()

Pilot (2017) (S01E01)

inglés I'm currently rating it with four pieces because I still don't know what to expect from it. The series definitely didn't start badly, the topic is great, the 80s atmosphere is even better, and Alison Brie was an excellent choice for the tragicomic Ruth. I enjoyed it and I expect to enjoy it even more. ()

Slouch. Submit. (2017) (S01E02)

inglés Neither the second episode disappointed me, the plot of the story was developing promisingly and I really enjoy the idea of a series about women's wrestling with a group of amateurs instead of professional wrestlers. The director proved to be a master manipulator and the submission to the alpha she-wolf was perfect. ()

The Wrath of Kuntar (2017) (S01E03)

inglés The plot of the third episode seemed a bit weaker to me this time, it practically revolved around a party in Malibu, and I wasn't too excited about it. The director/screenwriter saved the whole situation with his "amazing" idea, so I did have something to laugh at after all. I hope for improvement. 4 stars. ()

The Dusty Spur (2017) (S01E04)

inglés Hmmm, so I didn't get any improvement, the fourth episode was on the same level as the previous one, maybe it's because there's somehow a lack of wrestling here? The concentration in the motel "Dusty Spur" from which the view of the parking lot is better than the view of the pool, but it amused me quite a bit. 4* ()

Debbie Does Something (2017) (S01E05)

inglés So there was finally improvement. I enjoyed myself from the cable car visit, through the opening of the new Patio Town, all the way to the wrestling match. The storyline was funny, but the costumes and hairstyles really knocked me out (pizza boy). The cherry on top was Alison Brie and her Russian accent. ()

This Is One of Those Moments (2017) (S01E06)

inglés Under normal circumstances, I would rate the sixth episode with four stars, but because of Alison Brie, I'm raising it to five. I praised her Russian accent in my previous comment, and this time she added a match against herself and certainly wasn't worse than Jim Carrey's schizoid character in the movie "Me, Myself & Irene". ()

Live Studio Audience (2017) (S01E07)

inglés Great episode, this time I didn't have to hesitate with my rating, finally there was some wrestling and I got to enjoy it a bit. The audience was really great, but I was already entertained by the Jackson brothers' training, and then the Ku Klux Klan and Zoya and Liberty Bell's entrance got me hyped. ()

Maybe It’s All the Disco (2017) (S01E08)

inglés I was a bit disappointed by GLOW for the first time, the eighth episode mostly abandoned the humor and took a more romantic drama route, which is a shame. Suddenly, I wasn't entertained and I felt like the creators betrayed me. At least Sam succeeded: "I'm not paranoid. Who told you that?" ()

The Liberal Chokehold (2017) (S01E09)

inglés Despite the new family ties, I enjoyed myself more this time than in the previous installment, where the main storyline was almost forgotten due to all the relationships. I was amused by the utopian effort to earn nine thousand dollars by washing cars and the robbery of a charity collection. I am curious to see how the creators will conclude this chaos. ()

Money’s in the Chase (2017) (S01E10)

inglés Alright, all doubts are gone, the finale was great. I don't mean to say that it didn't have its flaws, but in the end, I didn't care at all because wrestling from the 80s looked like wrestling from the 80s. That's exactly how all movies about heroes and great fighters looked. Some filmmakers were still shooting in this style in the early 90s, and some of them have stuck with it to this day... ()

Season 2 (2018) (S02)

inglés I’m not exactly thrilled about Season 2. Reasons: there was less wrestling, there was less humor., and I'm really sick of how politically correct propaganda is implemented into almost every movie or show. It's constantly drummed into my head that if I think differently from the herd, I'm a disgusting white heterosexual pig = sexual abuser. I think contemporary filmmakers (especially those at Netflix) should put down their Marxism-Leninism pamphlets and read some Orwell or Solzhenitsyn for a change. ()

Viking Funeral (2018) (S02E01)

inglés I'm not entirely sold on the second season yet. Maybe it's the parade of crimes against women or the way they're weaving in all those current trends. But hey, I'm not throwing in the towel just yet. I'll hang in there and wait for the next episodes, hoping for the same quality entertainment we had in the first season. ()

Candy of the Year (2018) (S02E02)

inglés The second season just isn't doing it for me. Sure, Netflix is still ticking those quota boxes, ensuring the woke critics can't find much fault, but it's coming at a cost. They've managed to kill almost all the humor, but I'm left wondering about their overall direction. Are they trying to morph what was once a funny, refreshing show into some kind of existential drama? I hope not. ()

Concerned Women of America (2018) (S02E03)

inglés The plot seems to be dragging a bit, and, unlike in the first season, I'm finding it hard to get those laughs in. When the humor does roll around, it's a bit awkward – case in point: the "hilarious" enema scene. I'm just waiting for Stifler's mom to make an appearance. Now that'll be a riot! 3*- ()

Mother of All Matches (2018) (S02E04)

inglés Finally! When humor hits the mark, I can overlook a lot of the usual trendy clichés. On top of that, we got some wrestling action, and then there's another extremely subjective matter... You see, I just love watching Betty Gilpin and she got plenty of screen time here, giving a brilliant performance. I had a great time watching. ()

Perverts Are People, Too (2018) (S02E05)

inglés Oh, for crying out loud... Netflix seems to have gone and spoiled all the fun with their constant MeToo propaganda, though I must say, I found Debbie's attitude and speech on the matter quite satisfying. She basically confirmed what I've been thinking about this whole situation. If someone bribes someone else, there are two culprits involved, right? But if someone builds a career through "forced" sex, suddenly there's only one culprit? Nah, I don't buy it. ()

Work the Leg (2018) (S02E06)

inglés This time around, I was treated to an entertaining episode for a change. It seems we're on a nice rollercoaster ride with this series. The creators once more delved into the development (or rather, the decline) of Debbie's psyche, and they brought back the wrestling, which immediately made things more enjoyable than the endless discussions about career growth. Now, this might sound like grumbling from a narrow-minded chauvinist, but quite the opposite is true for me. I have a genuine appreciation for women, and I wholeheartedly wish for them to receive equal pay for the same job positions as men (I mean, why isn't that the standard already?). However, it seems like some fanatical feminists, who would probably prefer self-pollination if it were possible are working tirelessly to include women among all these quota-based minorities. And honestly, I think that's doing them a disservice. ()

Nothing Shattered (2018) (S02E07)

inglés Surprisingly, the episode earned a decent rating from me, despite the absence of wrestling and a lack of humor. The creators skillfully crafted a solid atmosphere in the hospital without resorting to excessive melodrama. Once again, Betty Gilpin delivered a brilliant performance, as she managed to make me feel negative emotions towards her character, Debbie. That's quite an achievement, considering how much I like her as an actress. ()

The Good Twin (2018) (S02E08)

inglés Okay... this was definitely a departure from the usual. It took me right back to the 90s when we first started watching things filmed in this style, and I tried to catch as many as I could because it was all so new and exciting. But then I realized it was mostly a waste of time and I started focusing on more worthwhile shows, like Dallas :-) So yeah, it's a fantastic throwback that had me laughing with sheer delight. ()
