The story of Michal Stranka, a sergeant of the US Marine Corps, who was born in Jarabina in Slovakia. Even though he became a legend and an embodiment of a true fighter for freedom and independence, his life is still cloaked in mystery. Thanks to the expressive photography of Joe Rosenthal, the soldiers raising the flag have become famous, worshipped heroes all over the United States. However, fate didn't favor Stranka and he did not live to see it. He died a few days later, after a piece of shrapnel from an artillery grenade hit him right in the heart. (MFF Cinematik Piešťany)
