Can the behaviour and characteristics we exhibit as children predict who and what we will become as adults? This series investigates the age-old nature versus nurture argument – but does nature load the gun and nurture pull the trigger? A study following a group of 1,037 children born in Dunedin, New Zealand since their births in 1972 has provided insight and information into almost every field of social and medical development including sexual health; criminology and genetics; addictions; obesity; cognitive neuroscience and psychiatry; and, perhaps most interestingly, the effects of nature and nurture on our health and behaviour. Based on the study, it is possible to accurately predict how certain personality types will behave in response to events in their lives.
