A story of passionate love, basketball and life in the shadows of politics. The film begins in 1938. The main line of the film is the fated love of a young attorney and athlete, Franta, to the dancer Michelle, whom he meets in Geneva at the post-war European Basketball Championship. Michelle is an ill-fated girl who fled from her homeland from Stalin and Hitler. Their story, which, apart from politics, is also affected by two opposing individuals, the coach Valenta and the official Hrabal, culminates in 1951 when the iron Curtain divides Europe for many years.
