A crusty old Scotsman reluctantly leaves his remote Hebridean island to stay with his estranged son in San Francisco while undergoing medical treatment. His life takes on new meaning as he forms a bond with his baby grandson. He discovers what true beauty is, and that when a life is well lived, a smile can live on after death.
