On his 80th birthday, media magnate Logan Roy (Brian Cox), whose imminent retirement was thought to be a given, shocks his family by announcing he's staying on indefinitely as CEO of Waystar/Royco. The news shatters his son Kendall, the heir apparent who's in the midst of negotiating the purchase of a digital-media venture founded by a slick operator named Lawrence. After the first episode, I have mixed feelings. The theme intrigued me, I enjoyed the cast, but I wasn't overly impressed by the execution. However, as usual, I see the pilot episode as an opportunity to become familiar with the plot and characters, so I expect the story to fully unfold from the second episode onwards.
