Minimum gunfights, minimum action, a lot of conversation, and only a few actors. Nevertheless, Anthony Mann managed to shoot one of the best westerns (or at least one that easily ranks among the best), because he understood that a western can also be about people and that it will work with them. James Stewart is excellent in the role of an unpleasant guy, which I wouldn't have believed before the movie.
