The famous Riviera brothel of the 1930s is situated near Prague. Run by the energetic Madam Gabi (Božidara Turzonovova), it caters to the well being and needs of the wealthy clientele whose satisfaction is disrupted only by intrusiveness of local constable, Bulis, played by Karel Heřmánek. However, ambitious and attractive Renata (Zdena Studenková) joins the venue, which changes the situation and the atmosphere of the brothel. The costly, and at that time very popular musical comedy with its eroticism was followed by a sequel in 1987, and it was even successfully presented in other countries of the Communist Bloc. Angel in a Devil's Body was made in 1982 and at the time it was a nostalgic and funny remembrance of the first republic when MPs abused their parliamentary immunity, the government changed, positions were divided and parties settled scores among themselves. Several years passed, and democracy returned with its ailments, the Czechs staged this production, and one critic wrote that it was the first political satire.
