Tønes

In 2018, Frank “Tønes” Tønnesen celebrated 25 years as an artist. Since his first concert during a class party at Grubeheimen in Sokndal municipality, the former electrician from Hauge in Dalane has become one of our biggest and most important artists. Tønes has received the Prøysen Prize, the Dialect Prize, several Spellemann prizes and has also been nominated for the Nordic Music Prize. Journalist and filmmaker André Løyning, followed Tønes through small and large events in his anniversary year, so he can be able to know him better. The cinema documentary Tønes is made together with screenwriter Kristian Landmark. The film is a portrait of a singer who lived in a hometown and writes songs that affect most of us. Who is the man, where does his unique songs come from, and what do they say about us all?
