A thematically very strong film that, like few others, attempts to come to terms with the oppressive legacy of the 1950s, when one hundred thousand people found themselves in camps and prisons, a burden that mostly marked them for life. The film is dominated by Jiří Schmitzer's convincing performance as the main protagonist. He managed to convey his own experiences from prison, where he ended up after a tragic car accident. His performance is completely authentic and rightfully earned him the Czech Lion award. This drama is interesting for its cast, with several actors appearing in atypical roles (Milan Šteindler, Jiří Krampol, and others), but the average screenplay and direction undermine the overall impression. Uno de los mejores películas de la década de los noventa y yo la vi hasta el año 2015. Sin embargo, estoy casi seguro de que no la habría percibido en tantos contextos como ahora en 1996. Jiří Schmitzer realiza una actuación magistral y recibió su merecido León: la escena con comida de contrabando quedará inolvidable para mí. Me llamó la atención que en la película aparecen varios actores claramente cómicos (Šteindler, Krampol, Vladyka) y la película no pierde nada con ello, todo lo contrario. Y no puedo dejar de mencionar la parte musical: la sinfonía N.º 7 de Beethoven todavía suena en mis oídos. Solo la había asociado anteriormente con la película Ony, que es completamente diferente.
