Sœurs Auxiliatrices, ‘Helper Nuns,’ was founded in Paris in 1856. In this debut feature film, director Maxime Faure follows their small flank in Quebec – a group of nuns whose faith is immovable, however not in the male-dominated Catholic church. Their median age is now over 80 and with the passing of time their numbers are shrinking. In this modest film, full of warmth, humor, acuity, commitment and many glasses of wine, they summarize their achievements and prepare to leave behind a legacy in the struggle for equality, social justice and international solidarity.
