Sinopsis(1)

The film is based on an important work of the world's literature, the first so-called gothic novel by Horacio Walpole. The story is narrated in an ironic quasi-documentary form as a reconstruction of a real event that happened many years ago. The film is dedicated to all researchers that based their lives on mystification. (texto oficial de la distribuidora)

inglés Jan Švankmajer considered the so-called gothic novel to be one of the starting points of his work, and its elements appeared in a number of Švankmajer's works. In the Otrant Castle, which is both a adaptation of the original gothic novel and a charming mystification, this source of inspiration is manifested perhaps most strongly. A funny matter that seems to have been partially inspired by Jára Cimrman's theater as well. Overall impression: 90%. ()
