The film "Public Enemy" managed to rectify what went wrong in the film "Little Caesar". This is truly the first proper mafia film, where we encounter cruelty, heightened emotions, deaths, and of course, tragic destinies. Although this film also has its weaknesses, overall it is a very powerful spectacle that gradually builds up to its, perhaps somewhat expected, conclusion.
