La historia de un profesor de primaria y sus métodos poco convencionales y su alumnado, nutrido de complejas realidades sociales y culturales. Analiza los sentimientos, pensamientos, emociones y melancolía de un grupo de estudiantes de un colegio, concretamente el Georg Büchner School, ubicado en la ciudad industrial alemana de Stadtallendorf. La peculiar mezcla de clases en la sociedad afecta directamente la vida de los estudiantes, sus perspectivas religiosas, el idioma que hablan y las tradiciones de sus respectivas familias. (Filmin)

This was the best 3 hours and 37 minutes of schooling I've ever experienced in my life. This observational documentary may be heavy on the runtime, but the story of an old teacher who teaches different cultures to find a common ground is extremely accessible and kept me there with no trouble. Mr. Bachmann loves his class and you will love it too.

Overall, a fine documentary that gives a pretty good idea about Germany's more or less successful efforts to educate the children of immigrants, who often can't even speak German, but there's certainly no reason to sit through the nearly four hours of it. And I wonder how many successful classes like Mr Bachmann's there are in Germany. Everything works pretty seamlessly for him, and from my perspective it would be more interesting to look somewhere where things grind a bit more.
