Logan (2017)

inglés It was spoiled by the unnecessarily vulgar Professor X... After all, greater accessibility doesn't necessarily mean that even such a dignified character, who certainly has dignified scenes in the film, suddenly starts speaking in such a rough way. But otherwise I'm satisfied. The acting and filming (especially remembering Mangold's previous Wolverine) is excellent, and the fight scenes are up there with the best ones involving Bryan Singer's Wolverine - they're just bloodier, which isn't a bad thing, although I'm not one of those who "missed it all along". I also liked that the trailers (which didn't particularly excite me) didn't reveal everything, and Logan has quite a few trump cards up its sleeve.

Dune (1984)

inglés It wasn't so bad until the attack on the base... after that it was. Although I liked the seriousness with which David Lynch and Co. tried to shoot Dune, the often unintentionally ridiculous result of their efforts unfortunately does not quite match. However, I want to add a little gleefully that it is a faithful adaptation of the book after all - the book bored me quite similarly. I prefer not to talk about the confused story and annoying all-explanatory inner voices, nor will I criticize Sting, for example, and I will try to forget about his role.

Johnny Cash: Cash for Kenya (1991) (concierto)

inglés At nearly sixty years old and fresh from bypass surgery, Johnny Cash may not have been in ideal form, but this is only evident on the opening two songs, which come across as tired even with a rather lackluster band. However, the rest of the concert is better in all aspects and I was pleased that it is not a classic "Best of" performance, but thanks to the fact that it takes place in a church, there are also rarely heard songs like “Five Feet High And Rising" or “A Thing Called Love". It was great that the songs also had Czech subtitles.

Johnny Cash: American Rebel (2015)

inglés A worthy documentary. It's a pity that it almost skips over how (and thanks to whom) Cash got rid of his drug addiction, when it so carefully describes how and why he got it. The ending was touching, but that was to be expected.

John Wick: Pacto de sangre (2017)

inglés At first, the second John Wick is pretty much the same as the first, but that's not a bad thing, and as time goes on (especially during the riveting part set in Italy) it becomes clear that this film really is bigger and in some ways even more imaginative than its older brother. I really liked the more elaborate world of all the killers, the big hunt for John Wick and the mirror finale that reminded me of The Man with the Golden Gun. I believed in Keanu Reeves with everything, and his castmates (the charmingly badass Ruby Rose) certainly didn't get put to shame. I'd quite like it if Chad Stahelski did a Bond movie in the future, because he's as good at action scenes as he is at non-action ones, and the result would definitely be interesting.

La cura del bienestar (2016)

inglés It's delightfully filmed weirdness - after Crimson Peak, another horror film that's not very usual for the contemporary viewer (even the genre classification here doesn't know how to deal with it :)), but which perfectly had me in the palm of its hand. First of all, it was able to surprise me with something every now and then, which was probably the best of all. Priessnitz never dreamed of such a hydrotherapy, and I, who was so bored by Shutter Island, probably didn't dream of such a film either.

Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes - The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes: The Final Problem (1985) (episodio)

inglés To film one of the most typical Holmes stories in such a way that it is interesting, even though the viewer knows what (doesn't) happen, is probably quite a thankless task. But it worked, and what's more, it turned out great. The angry Jeremy Brett is excellent in the opening minutes of the great finale of the second series, but he's equally great in the last act, when Holmes knows exactly what's coming and is just waiting for it to come. David Burke owes his colleague nothing, and Moriarty is truly diabolical.
