En el otoño de 1938, Europa está al borde de la guerra. Adolf Hitler se prepara para invadir Checoslovaquia, y el gobierno de Neville Chamberlain busca una solución pacífica a la desesperada. En ese ambiente tan tenso, el funcionario británico Hugh Legat y el diplomático alemán Paul von Hartmann van a Múnich para asistir a una conferencia de emergencia. Mientras empiezan las negociaciones, estos dos viejos amigos se ven envueltos en una red de subterfugios políticos y un peligro muy real. Ante la atenta mirada del mundo, ¿podrá evitarse la guerra?
