El jefe de urgencias del Chicago Memorial Hospital, el Dr. Joe Darrow es un respetado experto en traumatología. Pero su dilatada experiencia profesional no le sirve de mucho cuando su mujer fallece trágicamente. Emily Darrow, que también es médico, se encontraba en misión cuando falleció en accidente de autobús en una carretera de montaña de Venezuela. Seis meses después de su muerte, el cuerpo de Emily sigue sin aparecer y Joe no consigue superar el dolor por su pérdida. Entonces empieza a captar señales que parecen indicar que ella quiere comunicarse con él. Una extraña forma abstracta empieza a aparecer en todo lo que rodea a Joe. It isn't entirely bad, but it's the kind of mystery film that stands and falls on atmosphere, which is something that a routine-man like Shadyac is utterly unable to induce. Thus, even a fairly solid premise, decent actors and decent music can't save the result.

I can't help but feel that watching Dragonfly is like eating an unseasoned meal. The film desperately lacks atmosphere and refinement, something that would nestle in the viewer and not let go. Yet it's not outright bad; it has decently written dialogues, and I had no problem with the performances of the film's characters. However, I can't give it three stars; I would need stronger impressions for that. The film just flew by me like a dragonfly... Overall impression: 40%.
