As her marriage to decorated war hero Oliver draws near, well-heeled Diana (Jemma Redgrave) moves into her sprawling new London home where she starts to experience strange and terrifying nightmares. But are these blood-curdling night terrors merely the symptom of an unsettled mind, or the sign of something far sinister at work? Hounded by a pair of sleazy journalists (Timothy Spall and Jimmy Nail), Diana soon crosses paths with American tourist Jenny, who appears to have a strange connection to the foreboding house and its sinister past. Descenso al infierno (Director's cut) es una película de terror visualmente interesante con una buena cantidad de efectos gore de calidad y una buena dosis de atmósfera hipnótica y ambiente onírico (pensé en Hellraiser varias veces durante la proyección). Como indica el título, el motivo principal de la película es la ensoñación, que rezuma en todas las escenas y resulta muy inquietante, pero, por desgracia, también perjudica ligeramente a la película, ya que ralentiza la ya de por sí escasa trama. Un ritmo más rápido habría sido beneficioso, pero sigo viendo a Descenso al infierno como una experiencia positiva. [Sitges 2018]
