El joven Thomas vive con su familia, y su situación no es nada sencilla. Mientras que su madre se ha vuelto muy religiosa de forma repentina, su padre sigue sin ser una persona de trato fácil. Pero Thomas ha encontrado un lugar donde está a salvo de sus problemas familiares: África. A pesar de que nunca ha ido allí, está informado de lo que pasa por la televisión, y Thomas sueña con las aventuras que puede tener en tan exótico continente. (Tripictures)

They say that in the Netherlands, Alex is a very successful director. But his absurdities didn’t have any success with me, which also applies to The Northerners, which is supposedly his most popular movie. And I’m not surprised. Its absurdity makes for an array of situations when I didn’t know whether to laugh or roll my eyes due to my incomprehension. The first half was funnier and it was leaning towards four stars, but then the second half got way more serious, trying to depict a few human traits; I’m not a huge fan of these radical jumps in movies. The result was neither a cat nor a dog; a catdog, just like the rest of Alex’s movies. I watched this for the Challenge Tour 2015.
