Season 1 (2023) (S01)

inglés The Dangers in My Heart is a series that might put you off in the first few episodes. The male protagonist is a bit of a wannabe edgelord who contemplates mass murder in his class, especially targeting the annoying girl who's invaded his library space to hide away and eat candy. Her constant daydreaming and obsession with sugar make it seem like she isn't the sharpest pencil in the box. She isn't the kind of character you'd root for off the bat. In short, the main couple has some pretty glaring flaws, and their early interactions border on awkward flirting and weird cringe. The series even hints that these two are worlds apart, so any romance or chemistry might be a stretch. But here's the twist – it works. Surprisingly well. The series just keeps getting better with each episode. Sure, the characters have some major flaws, but that's what makes them feel more human. The main guy might be a wannabe edgelord, but looking back at my teen years, I had my awkward, emo phase too. So, I can relate, even if it's a part of my past I'd rather forget. As the story unfolds, the chemistry kicks in, and the series builds a genuine romantic tension. The show plays with shots and colors to set the mood, transforming weird and cringy moments into sweet, romantic scenes. I found myself smiling, feeling warm, and genuinely rooting for the main couple. They may still have their quirks, but their rough edges start to soften, and logical explanations fill in some blanks about their characters. Slowly, I started thinking these two are perfect for each other, despite being on opposite ends of the social spectrum in their class with little in common. From a shaky start that reminded me of my awkward phase (we've all been there), where I questioned why I was still watching (certainly not for the main characters), and where my only real likes were the animation style and the beautiful opening, it evolved into a series I eagerly anticipated. I found myself wishing for a happy ending and was thrilled when they announced a second season. 8/10. ()

Season 2 (2024) (S02)

inglés I had high hopes going in, but The Dangers in My Heart surpassed all expectations. The final episode was nothing short of brilliant, earning a solid 10/10 from me. The way the two main characters bared their hearts, revealing why they fell in love, felt so genuine and beautifully fitting with everything we've seen throughout not just this season, but the entire series. From the very first season, the show had me hooked. It delved into the gradual transformation of two vastly different personalities finding their way to each other. The second season brilliantly builds upon this foundation, deepening their relationship, throwing new obstacles in their path, and culminating in a breathtaking finale. What stood out the most for me? Perhaps it was how the main character, despite his insecurities and fears, ultimately grasped what needed to be done at a crucial moment, revealing a surprising maturity. On the other hand, the main female character, often seeming confident but struggling with her own uncertainties, felt incredibly relatable. The series beautifully portrays the conflicts of adolescence — the clash between the weight of adulthood's responsibilities and the carefree naivety of childhood. It's a delicate balance that's masterfully executed, making everything the characters do feel utterly believable. Moments like Ichikawa's confrontation with his past self are some of the series' most powerful. Both main characters are exceptionally well-written, with their own strengths and weaknesses. Watching them grow, both individually and in their relationship, is what kept me rooting for them throughout. Sure, it gets cringy and awkward at times, but that's part of the charm — reminiscent of those first romances we've all experienced. The animation is top-notch, complemented by an even better musical score. In short, I was thoroughly enthralled by the show. I hope for more episodes because this feels like just the beginning of a relationship that promises to be as intriguing as the journey to it. 9.5/10 ()
