This film adaptation of the same-name novel by Polish writer Andrzej Kuśniewitz is set in east-European Galicia in the closing months of WWI. Terminally ill Imperial and Royal lieutenant Kiekeritz, played by the unmistakeable Olgierd Łukaszewicz, says goodbye to life, but also to the world as he had known it. (Summer Film School)
