El Dr. Alex Hesse, un prestigioso científico, y su colega, el ginecólogo Dr. Arbogast, investigan un nuevo fármaco, el Espectane, que asegura un embarazo saludable a cualquier mujer. Cuando van a empezar los experimentos con seres humanos, la universidad anula el proyecto y cede el laboratorio a la doctora Reddin, pero los científicos deciden seguir con la investigación utilizando el cuerpo del propio Hesse.
