Furias (2024)

inglés This series turned out to be a real letdown and a complete waste of my time. It's a shame, really. I seem to have this weird compulsion or habit where once I start a series, I feel the need to finish it, even if it's not doing it for me. Well, this one took a nosedive after the third episode, reminding me why French film and TV usually aren't my cup of tea (with a few exceptions, of course). By the penultimate episode, I was convinced this must have been inspired by comic book tropes - the story, the characters, the whole Parisian underworld. The plot was a bit of a weak effort, with the creators avoiding logic at every turn, resulting in this oddity that I just couldn't connect with. / Lesson learned: Some rules can lead you straight into premature death. Trabajo para ella (2024) (E01)

inglés Not half bad for a start, but I must say, the series is seriously lacking a Comedy genre tag. I found myself chuckling quite a bit, and I'm not saying this to poke fun at the writers. It genuinely struck me as funny, and I had a blast watching it. However, it's not quite at the level of earning my fourth star (if it even gets there). / Lesson learned: Reading is key to survival. Un corazón roto es mejor que un balazo (2024) (E02)

inglés Well, this one left me feeling a bit let down after a strong start with the first episode. The action and dialogue were still decent, but where there was humor before, now we've got some strange and awkward moments popping up. I'm talking about that whole undercover scene in the fancy brothel and what came right after. Even the junkyard scene seemed weird, so my hopes for a higher rating are taking a nosedive. / Lesson learned: Sometimes a goulash is great, but when there's too much thrown in, it's better off poured down the drain. ()

Nunca hubiera apostado por ti (2024) (E03)

inglés I'm beginning to suspect that this entire story is bizarre and somewhat dysfunctional. The many logic holes are starting to form this vast chasm, and the plot now teeters along a series of narrow and shaky bridges. But I have to admit this episode was a more entertaining spectacle than the last. / Lesson learned: Treat your work tools with respect. ()

La furia es como la sarna (2024) (E04)

inglés Well, well, well, wasn't that a suspenseful episode? After being surprisingly entertained by the previous episode despite its flaws, the fourth one fell flat. It was a mix of boredom, a plot that seemed to wander aimlessly, and somewhat chaotic filmmaking. Nope, this one just didn't hit the mark, and I'm skeptical that the creators can salvage much. / Lesson learned: Even working in the archive can be full of adventure. 2* ()

Hola, mi amor (2024) (E05)

inglés Just as I suspected. My thoughts from the last review hold true – there's no improvement here. A story devoid of logic is like a body without a skeleton; it awkwardly flails about, directionless, following the script wherever it leads, and it seems to be irreversibly heading towards the darkest depths of screenwriting hell. Four automatic weapons, a garden full of people, and not a hint of collateral damage – it's either high art or complete garbage, and I'm leaning towards the latter. / Lesson learned: A machine pistol may have a magazine for twenty rounds or sometimes more, but it definitely doesn't run on an ammo belt. 2*- ()

La naturaleza aborrece el vacío (2024) (E06)

inglés I haven't researched what inspired this series, but the sixth episode couldn't have screamed 'comic book' louder if it tried, and honestly, I feel like I've outgrown this overly serious, coloring book style. / Lesson learned: You think you can kick your way through something you can't shoot through? Good luck. 2*- ()

¿Dónde están los cuchillos? (2024) (E07)

inglés I couldn't help but be amused by the official plot summary of this episode. The forest that was supposed to be dark and eerie looked pretty sparse – blame it on that pesky bark beetle. The plot of this episode can only be described as wild, with a new bulletproof material in the mix. Bullets from a Desert Eagle bounce off, but a knife? It's unstoppable. Absolutely brilliant. We've got an unstoppable mercenary squad, a group practically out of bullets, a targeting laser that makes sound, and a whole bunch of other ridiculousness that left me so amazed that I was on the verge of giving this episode a boo!. / Lesson learned: When you find yourself in a hopeless situation, don't panic. Just wait calmly until deus ex machina saves the day. 1*- ()

Namasté, cabrón (2024) (E08)

inglés The finale of this series wasn't actually half bad. Especially when you consider the train wreck that was the previous episode. The creators just need to steer clear of those clichés and tired tropes. So much "tension". But hey, it's all behind me now, and I'm pretty relieved about that. / Lesson learned: If you stop breathing, it won't do you any good. ()
