Wile E. Coyote is one of the most essential characters in film history for me. And not only the animated version. An irresistible, indefatigable, almost Don Quixote-like furry who keeps trying (we all know what I mean)... And who you can't help but cheer for. My favorite moments are those when the poor, 100% convinced hunter is already approaching the desired feathered target, but all it takes is one little thing (followed by an eloquent "Oh, God..." look) and "beep-beep", and then everything is set in motion. Whether the coyote is falling into chasms, decorating the bumpers of cars and trains with his frightened snout, suffering under tons of boulders, burnt, frozen, broken or just plain and simply disgusted, he never gives up. When you cross the fate of Sisyphus and the vicious obstinacy of Edmund Blackadder, who do you get? Yes, it's furry, it's gloriously mean, and it has a lifetime deal with ACME. (05.05.2009)
