Durante la Guerra Civil de EE.UU., una extraña y gigantesca criatura marina hunde cualquier embarcación que se cruza en su camino. El “Abraham Lincoln”, un barco de la marina norteamericana, es enviado a la zona para investigar los misteriosos naufragios. El monstruo resulta ser un fantástico submarino, el “Nautilus”, al mando del Capitán Nemo: un hombre de enigmático carácter que busca vengarse del aventurero inglés Charles Denver que, tiempo atrás, cuando Nemo era príncipe en la India, provocó la muerte de la esposa de Nemo, la princesa Daaker, y la desaparición de su joven hija. The combination of old filmmaking techniques and Jules Verne's imagination is truly magical. However, it doesn't hide the fact that the creators have taken the books “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" and “The Mysterious Island", gutted the best things from them and pieced them together to make the most of their brand new toys, exploring the unexplored and amazing others in the process. However, their work has a pleasant atmosphere, is perhaps even intentionally funny here and there, and despite the runtime I was not bored. Three and a half.
