The American production Dr. Heckyl and Mr. Hype is a fine comedy horror that stands mainly on the performances, although Oliver Reed basically has no equal. He boldly pulls the movie off, and every now and then, you really feel that the filmmakers wanted it to be more of a horror movie than a comedy. It does not quite work, although they clearly put a lot of effort into it and that counts.
