Taiwán, primera mitad del siglo XX. El joven Li Tienlu trabaja como maestro de ceremonias en un teatro de títeres, llegando a convertirse en uno de los más reconocidos del país. Cuando estalla la Segunda Guerra Mundial, el gobierno nipón de Taiwán hace uso de los teatros de títeres tradicionales chinos como centro de propaganda de guerra, dejando a Li sin su principal sustento, aunque ello no significa el final de su afición. An interesting view on what life was like in Taiwan and that definitely German Nazis and Soviet Communists were not the first ones to handle propaganda well. The Japanese were also excellent at it, which is probably not so surprising. They are fanatics. However, despite its interesting format, this movie just seemed terribly exhausting to me.
