Nishina Rika, una trabajadora voluntaria, se ve obligada a visitar una casa ocupada tan solo por una anciana postrada en el lecho llamada Sachie. El edificio transpira una extraña atmósfera y es evidente que la mujer vive aterrorizada, pero su enfermedad degenerativa le impide comunicarse con normalidad manteniéndola aislada en una especie de limbo. La maldición: The Grudge es una tela de araña en la que diversos personajes conectados entre sí se ven atrapados por un fenómeno sobrenatural que les conduce irremisiblemente hacia la muerte. I put it on right at midnight, with the lights off and the headphones on, expecting to feel truly scared after a long time. In the end it wasn’t that hot, but I’ll admit that the film did deliver a couple of unpleasant moments (in the good sense of the word). Maybe, if it’d been my first encounter with the franchise, I would’ve been more scared, but after my experience with Toshio and Kayako, I knew when I could expect the jump-scares and those ghosts could no longer terrify me that much. In any case, a first-rate ghost story and 8/10.

Mantengo interés, respeto y admiración por la cultura y tradiciones japonesas, y también creo que los japoneses son maestros de las historias de miedo y las películas de terror, pero esta película realmente no me gustó para nada. Me perdí completamente en la trama y no sé si entendí el punto en absoluto. Tuve problemas con los personajes, todos los personajes femeninos me parecieron iguales y no quiero parecer racista, pero simplemente creo que necesito una adaptación americana simplificada comprensible incluso para el espectador "tonto".

An extremely compelling combination of a slow pace and a very disturbing character of a little Japanese boy who can fit inside any closet or corner of your home at night. Ugh, he scared me alright, the little bugger! An interesting concept for a horror film. You won't see streams of fake blood, but if you catch sight of something in the shadows with your peripheral vision, you might feel the urge to check that there’s really nothing there..
