Durante la fiebre del oro en Alaska a finales de 1800, Hudson Saanteck (Christopher Lambert), un mestizo medio indio medio yankee, explota una mina de oro considerada sagrada por los indios. El todopoderoso Sean McLennon (James Caan) ha puesto sus ojos en la mina, con la pretensión de arrebatársela de la manera que sea.
