One day, on a whim, Marc decides to shave off the mustache he's worn all of his adult life. He waits patiently for his wife's reaction, but neither she nor his friends seem to notice. Stranger still, when he finally tells them, they all insist he never had a mustache. Is Marc going mad? Is he the victim of some elaborate conspiracy? Cuando Gogol escribió sobre la nariz, ¿por qué no podría Carrere escribir sobre la barba? El resultado es bastante extraño, pero tal vez también se deba a que no entendí la adaptación cinematográfica y tampoco me esfuerzo mucho debido al gran cansancio. La primera mitad es buena, va aumentando gradualmente, la segunda mitad es como de otro mundo y también en realidad sí - del hemisferio opuesto. Lindon actúa de manera segura, Devos apoya hábilmente, la actuación de Amalric es ridícula, podría haber tenido más espacio.

I would call this the most brutal déjà vu in movie history. The ending totally knocked me off (by which I mean I didn’t understand absolutely anything). I was feeling as if I were in some kind of completely incomprehensible world. However, the excellent performances, Phillip Glass’s music and an interesting premise (even though it ended the way it did) all deserve a three-star review.
