Esta es la verdadera historia de William Pitsenbarger, un héroe de guerra de las Fuerzas Aéreas que salvó a más de 60 hombres, antes de ser asesinado en la batalla más sangrienta de la Guerra de Vietnam. Tuvo la oportunidad de escapar del campo de batalla en el último helicóptero, pero Pitsenbarger se quedó para salvar y defender a todos los soldados que quedaban. Finalmente fue asesinado por una bala enemiga, sacrificando su propia vida por sus camaradas. Por sus actos heroicos, Pitsenbarger recibió el más alto honor militar que un soldado podría obtener, la Medalla de Honor del Congreso. Esta medalla se otorga por actos de valor. The Last Full Measure has an extremely strong story and an important idea, but it doesn't seem to really sell either. The plot drags on, lacks dramatic arcs, and the final typically American cheerleader along with a lot of exaggerated patriotism, sentiment, and pathos definitely does not help the final impression. The attempt to portray human emotions and to evoke an emotional movement in the viewer was a bit of a miss. At least for me. However, I have to admit that looking at all the great actors made me realize how time is actually passing outrageously fast for the time that has been allotted to us here . That moved me much more than the film itself. (50%)

The biggest problem I see is the casting of Sebastian Stan, who has zero ability to evoke emotion in the viewer. The other acting veterans here come across as mere staffage and I'd really like to know what convinced them to go for this, at the very least, extremely odd project. All the flashbacks are perfectly interchangeable with any self-respecting war film and the final scene (I was just waiting for the cleaning lady, receptionist, and gardener to stand up, too) should be outlawed. But for some reason inexplicable to me, it flew by rather quickly, so in the end a hard-fought 2 stars.
